Over Easter weekend Tina Knowles Lawson used her Instagram page to promote the April 15th opening of her Houston pastor’s new business venture, Throughgood Coffee. Knowles, mom of R&B superstar Beyoncé and songstress Solange, wrote on her Instagram: “For A long time my amazing Minister, pastor Rudy Rasmus has had A dream of opening a gourmet coffee shop. He researched and prepared and studied the art of coffee making. Finally The day has arrived. It’s open !!!! If you are in Houston , Texas do yourself a favor and go by and get the best cup of coffee in the best atmosphere…”
The Throughgood Coffee shop is located at 732 W. 27th Street in Houston, Texas. Not only does the coffee shop serve coffee and tea blended and packaged in Houston, they offer food from local businesses that include donuts, biscuits and other pastries.
Rudy Rasmus, the proprietor, is the co-pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church with his wife Juanita Rasmus. The Downtown Houston church opened in 1992. According to his website, Pastor Rudy was a monthly contributor to O magazine. He wrote for the ethics column “Now What Do I Do.” He was also a faith based blogger for Houston Chronicle online. Through his church programs he serves dinner to the homeless, provides HIV/AIDS testing to churchgoers and has tackled human trafficking and mass incarceration.
